Anyone under the age of 18 must complete a State Certified driving course. The course must consist of a 30-hour classroom and a 6-hour behind the wheel training.
The 30-hour classroom cannot be completed in less than six weeks, and class time cannot exceed more than five hours a week.
The behind-the-wheel training cannot be completed in less than six weeks, and each lesson cannot be longer than 1.5 hours.
Teens are required to practice an additional 50-hours, 10 at night, with a licensed driver 21 or older. Between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am the licensed driver must be a parent or guardian. The practice hours must be documented and a notarized affidavit must be submitted to the teen's behind-the-wheel instructor.
